This Tuba Tuesday the Museum features a F. Besson, Brevettee, EEb Tuba, 3 Pistons, c. 1875.

F. Besson/ Brevettee/ 198 Euston Rd/ London

This is the oldest Besson instrument in the collection.

Bell is 12.5″, bore is 630″ & height of 33.5”.

Should be. 25 & 26 were a few years earlier than this serial number.
If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?

I’m pretty certain that it was one of those that I learnt to play bass on as a teenager; well the same base model but what I used was silver plated and with artistic engraving on the bell. Wish I’d never have let that instrument go, but it belonged to the youth band and I left to join the world of work.
