recent Frankenacquisitions

Post by arpthark »

Feeling a bit like the dog who caught the car now, but I have a barn full of new (old!) tuba parts.

- MW BBb rotary valve set
- King 124x body carcass
- Vintage York Eb bell [!]
- no-name continental European BBb (probably ca. 1900-1920s) [<-- a pretty fine player]
- Conn 12J cut to C with an added 4th valve [<-- a very fine player, but likely going to be a donor tuba]

So now the question is... what to do with all this!

Eventually, if I can get a nice King valve section, there are the makings for a Gnagey-ish CC with a York bell, or for a rotary valve Yorkophone with the MW valve set.

Stay tuned... eventually.

Let all that crap stew for a while, and then sell it.

That’s often what I do.

You should just sell that franken-C tuba for way more than it’s worth.

Seriously, this. If these guys can smoke this much crack, then surely your 4 valve CC is worth more. https://www.hornhospital.com/main/produ ... ba-990108/

I've got a 12J body with no bell I've thought about cutting to CC. I'd love to see some pictures of the one you've got!
