WTB: Rotary or piston, 4v, 4/4 tuba

Post by bort2.0 »

Putting out a feeler for whatever might be available out there...

Piston or rotary
Probably in BBb for my budget
4 valve (if pistons, front action)
US or German made
Must be reliable and a good player, mechanically sound
Can be ugly, but not too ugly
One piece upright bell
Price as low as possible
Not a King 2341 (too tall!)

Some of the above are negotible, except for the US/German thing, and the one piece upright bell.

Preferably within driving distance of Minneapolis.

Brett,
How about this Olds at Tuba Exchange?
https://www.tubaexchange.com/products/u ... 4-bbb-tuba
Or, if you're a do it yourself-er there's this one handily in Chicago - https://reverb.com/item/16041851-olds-f ... 1-bbb-tuba
That repair guy we both know down in Tennessee wrote a great article on the old site about Maximizing the Olds O-99-4. Even if the article is missing, the guy probably still remembers what he was talking about, unless senility has set in. It's where I'd send mine, if I had one.

I have a Bb 186 that might do, except that the upright bell is removable (as is the recording bell).

Play it with emotion and play it strong! Don't make a face and they won't know it's wrong!

I'm selling it. Actually, it's already spoken for, I'm just getting the shipping worked out.
