King four valve, bell up, silver baritone

This horn was purchased in the mid 90's and RARELY used. It's not even really broken in. There's a hard case which is like the horn on the inside but some citrus rats took over our attic and ate most of the black material on the outside off. Totaly functional and fixable. I don't know the model but don't see it at Dillon's or Baltimore Brass.It's a very good player and I would like 800 bucks for it. If you're interested email me and I'll be happy to send pictures. Ed

I’m thinking, sir, that you have a model 2268S.

The Brasswind seems to only “offer” (stock?) the 3-valve version - asking $2500 bucks or so for the lacquered 3-valve, and I’m not completely sure (??) that the 4-valve is still in production - though someone could ask Andy Smith.

As much as people here…
- seem to dislike top action
- love silver plating
- lurk here/there/yon for a sub-$1000 euphonium

…I can’t imagine this offering lasting until the end of the day.

These are great horns for a community band. Since the only notes really affected (not counting intonation quirks otherwise) by not having a full comp system are (bass clef concert pitch) 2nd line B natural and E natural below the staff, and since typical community band repertoire doesn't go below bottom of the staff F, these horns can save a player several pounds of weight and a significant amount of dollars.

These are fine instruments, and it will sell.

I don’t know if you are willing to do something for me in the meantime…?
I am using the valve section to one of these for a project instrument. If you would be willing to warm your instrument up, play through the different partials, and let me know whether – in your experienced opinion – any of the four circuits could benefit from being slightly shortened (I don’t expect any problems), it would just be easier for me to address such issues prior to beginning to mount other parts onto this valve section.

King seems to (over the last thirty years or so) put circuit lengths right "on the nose" - when slides are pushed in nearly all the way.
