Re: Post Your Group and Section Photos Here
Paul Peterson and I have been the tuba section in 2 different community bands since at least 1992, possibly sooner (we don't remember...need to find some old programs to be sure). After 30 years together we've picked up well on each others tendencies, quirks, strong points, and foibles. We now play (nearly) identical King 2341's, right down to the Lee Stofer-supplied MOP valve buttons. At ages 64 and 78 we figure we've only got another 20 years or so together, so we'll keep trying to make the best of it.

That's a great photo and story.
And there's no way that you look 64, or that he looks 78. I hope whatever's in the Minnesota water will be as kind to me as I get older.

Brett,
It's not so much the water as the winters. We're basically freeze-preserved from October to April!

Re: Post Your Group and Section Photos Here
^ Good grief that's a lot of tuba for one section. Is this a band of 200 people? :)
I maybe had a section of 3 tubas in college for a semester. Otherwise, in college and post-college it was never more than 2, and about half the time, the "not me" person really wasn't very good. The other half the time, the other guy was a VERY good player who probably said "hey, that other guy really isn't very good."
One of those good players was Kevin Ladd (wonder what he's up to these days?), who had the smoothest and nicest sound from his bought-new-and-used-ever-since Marzan CC. Another was someone who worked for the US Army Field Band, but wasn't a band member. Still a REALLY good tuba player who killed it with a MW 2145. Or a semester alongside Lenny Jung. Or another friend who ended up in the Army band system (just not one of the premier bands), who sounded GREAT on a Yamaha 822 CC with a constant aura of musicality, big sound, and minimal effort.

I'm thinking I posted these elsewhere...
This one is the IRIS Orchestra (when I passed up a chance to play Tchaik 4 to play a handful of Dvorak notes - simply motivated purely by greed).
Jaime Morales / Michael Hosford / Christopher Walker / cute-as-a-button Holton B-flat
====================================================================
This one is the Jackson (Tennessee) Symphony, when I used this contraption to play Schubert 9
Ed Morse - E-flat alto/Joseph "Yeah-That's-a-Thein" Frye - B-flat tenor/bloke - F contrabass
=====================================================================
This is the North Mississippi Symphony (Tupelo)
Micah Everett / Peter Braswell / Jason Beghtol /Fat Bastard
======================================================================
Memphis Symphony (Mahler 1 bows - Nov, 2022)
Greg Luscombe / Wes Lebo / Mark Vail / B&S Symphonie F

Re: Post Your Group and Section Photos Here
Something that always confused me about the Oldsmobile 98 was that it was only made until 96.
Maybe they were trying to avoid their own problem similar to the Y2K problem...??
If Fiat had built it, maybe it would have been an XCVIII...??
I can't seem to recall anyone made t-shirts with pictures of those on them and making group photos.
I guess it's just one of those secrets or mysteries of life that we will never completely understand.

Re: Post Your Group and Section Photos Here
Not a Kaiser- basically a very old version of the 163. The angle makes the tuba look bigger than it is. Besides, this Section has enough firepower that we really don't need Kaisers. Our Director knows what will happen if he asks for more tuba, which is why he rarely does
