After I painstakingly straightened those stems and centered them as best as I possibly could, those huge buttons missed articulating against each other by angstroms.

I'd be worried the Bluton Boiz would start to chafe against one another mid-concert if I wiggled my fingers wrong.

There will be two of those.
I’m hoping that – unlike most tubas - this will actually be a musical instrument. 🥸

.562” bore rotors:
Other than the two that will appear on the left side for my left hand, I think I only have one or two more of those (several casings and rear caps, but only a couple of rotors and a couple of bearings), and I really don’t want to buy much of anything for this project… I actually do know where I can get some brand new ones cheap, but I would have to lap them into the casings - and then I would have to bend all of the cylindrical tubing coming out of them.

That thar sounds like itsa gonna be a Franken-bloken tuba.
But if I had to play it wit me wee hands, I'd go for the great big buttons so mah fangers wouldn't get stuck between them.

Did you run out of Sellmansberger finger buttons? Or are they not SAE 8-32?

Wait a minute... you just can't submit a late entry after nearly everyone has already voted! :red:

I saved back a few, but I would just as soon not retap these stems to M4x.7

I like the size of these versus the “just barely” size of the big ones. The black anodized bit is a bit off, but nothing too distracting.

I guess I could do a lacquering theme with clear lacquer on the main parts of the instrument and black translucent lacquer on slides, caps, water keys, etc.

Reminds me of my old boyfriend who bought a black Ninja. I asked why, because on a motorcycle it's not the best idea to be invisible to other drivers, and he said, "Because it's BITCHIN!" --- So I like the black buttons for the same reason.
