FOUND! THANKS!

Post by Sousaswag »

Potential feeler here. Here’s the deal:

Thinking about letting my MRP C go- I love the horn, but I don’t need a huge tuba, and would like to pocket an extra few thousand for some other reasons. I don’t play a lot these days and am toying with downsizing a bit.

IF you have a great condition/great playing HB2P, and HB2P ONLY, I.E. no rotary HB2 or HB21, JUST HB2P, I’d be interested in a trade+cash for my MRP-C.

If you’d like a bigger tuba than your HB2P, let’s talk.

Not interested in ANY other models at this time.

I am aware of the horn at Dillon’s. It will likely be gone before I’d be able to purchase it.

I’m located in the Chicago area and would prefer to keep things somewhat local.

I’m in no rush. I might even change my mind a day from now.

It has always frustrated me that you must be *this* specific with this crowd, all the time, forever and ever, amen.

Thanks for the <needed> clarity, sir. Good luck with your search.

Thank you! The HB2P is really the only Hirsbrunner 4/4 I want- I've loved every one I've tried, and never loved the 2 or 21, hence my ONLY HB2P comments :teeth:

I, too, love the 2P, but not any other HB tubas. I don't even really care for the Yorkbrunner. There was a 2P at TMEA back around 1984 that broke my heart because I could not afford it.

I tried a 2P at TMEA in 1987, and experienced the same heartbreak. Played a couple of others along the way, and the feeling was the same. The Yorkbrunner never really grabbed me, and I wouldn’t play an HB21 if you gave it to me.

You see a 2P for sale every once in while, and every time I am tempted. For better or worse, I haven’t been in a position to buy something when they came around. I would still like to play one and see if I feel the same way. @Sousaswag, I hope you find one and get one if that’s what you want. They don’t come up often enough to pass an opportunity. Photos and sound samples should be shared, of course, post-purchase. 👍🏼

I’ll chime in for David.

He bought his MRPCC from me, which I sold after buying my handmade 6450.

David is great to work with, and that MRP is an exceptional instrument. Hope it all works out!

Sirs,

I’m picking up the HB2P tomorrow in Louisville. There’s a story there, just give me some time and I’ll create a post tomorrow.

Special thanks to Tim for hooking me up the the seller.

Congrats on the tuba! Get some bagels at Payne Street Bakehouse while you are there (better than NYC, sorry New Yorkers).

I lived in Louisville for 2 years and miss it dearly. I travel to KY once or twice a year but haven't made it to Lou since 2019. Say hi to the Derby City for me!
