It’s no “monster”, and the only thing else they had in Eb in 1909 was a 15” bell.

I've "talked" with the seller. It is indeed a 15" diameter "short bell" Eb. The horns with the short bell are 28-29" tall and the tall bell models were 32".

Monsters cut to F very poorly, but these make very nice, albeit very small, F tubas. Mark Wolfe had one.

I'm considering throwing in a 12j valveset to make a front action tuba. Very similar to a recently completed frankentuba seen on this very board.

This horn will be smaller than the tuba that you’re referring to. It’s only going to be about 28” tall.

They did make a tall bell version that was 32” tall.

I used a “tall bell” with the rest of the bugle from one of these to make this (still need to polish/buff valve cluster):

It plays absolutely awesome, with a light singing tone, yet has a strong low range.

It seems the bore of this tuba is about .591". Can someone confirm on deny this?

It seems my Conn 12j valveset would be severely oversized.

Yes, the carcass I have in the garage is a .591 bore.
