WTB: 6/4 Gig Bag

Post by Alebeard »

Good evening everyone,

I am looking for a 6/4 sized gig bag. Bell measures at 16.5in and tuba length is 43.3in. I have contacted a few manufacturers and haven't heard back from any of them except SuperFine bags. They want a shadow drawing, which I will not be able to provide, as I will not be receiving the tuba in the mail for likely a month, and I am needing a bag before the tuba shows up.
I sincerely appreciate any offers/info!

Cheers,
Jared

Contact Wessex, it sounds like you need the bag for their 6/4 BBb Kaiser.
Wessex bags are sturdy for carry, not for protection. I very happily used one for my 6/4 Holton BAT for years, and had no trouble with it at all.
For a more substantial bag with well-padded protection contact Lee Stofer, he may have a Cronkhite bag available. A gorgeous leather version came with my Stofer 2341-5, and I love it.
Good luck out there.

Still in the market for a gig bag. It seems length is the issue, being that it is 43.3in.

I looked a little but couldn’t find a used Humes & Berg Large Tuxedo Bag. Too bad they quit making those, as they were inexpensive and would’ve fit your horn just fine.

Picked up a Göetz/B&S SuperSac gig bag that I read came with the B&S GR 51 tubas and also fit the Meinl Weston Thor or similar sized 5/4 tubas. Hoping this will fit my tuba as those other tubas are roughly 41in in length but with 19in+ bells. With my smaller 16.5in bell and 43.3in length, it'll be close.Image
