Wiseman 900(pt-6p clone) $6,000/trade for Eb/F Tuba
Hello, Im selling my Wiseman 900 5/4 CC tuba. This is a copy of the pt-6p. This tuba plays better than most pt-6s ive played. It has better playability and intonation than the Pt-7 I just bought. Its a great horn with a monstrous low end. The only knock on this horn is the classic wiseman valves and caps, they are not amazing.
The reason im selling is because i switched to a true 6/4 horn, a pt-7.
There are a couple small dents but the horn is in great condition. I personally love the raw brass finish. I took off the leather arm guard, but I can find it if someone wants it.
I would love to get $6,000 OBO
Shipping at buyers risk and expense, or pickup at 46360 or Chicago.
I would also love to trade for a 5 valve F/Eb. I’m open to anything really but would be most interested in
Miraphone: Petruska, Starlight, Norwegian Star
B&S: Any F or Eb
Mienl Weston: Any Eb or F. Especially the 2141 Eb.
Yamaha: 822 F, 621 F
Id be interested in Chinese stuff, feel free to shoot me whatcha got.
Id be happy to throw in a little money to make a trade happen/even valued.
Thanks!

Everything claimed is true.
I would've kept the 900 and not bought the 7, but that's the seller's bidnuss.

I really enjoy the sound coming out of the bell on the pt-7.

Re: Wiseman 900(pt-6p clone) $6,000/trade for Eb/F Tuba
Not to get sentimental on ya’ll but before I had the Bruckner which was my dream tuba I had had this tuba.
The sound, the feel I had got from this tuba was absolutely lovely ESPECIALLY in the lower register. Intonation was very manageable. My tuba teacher of 10+ years who conducted our local community orchestra looked over and smiled when he first heard me play the horn.
During this time I had been paying about 700/ a month in student loans plus both me and my mothers car insurance, electric bill, oil bill, internet bill etc… while also having 14,000 in credit card debt.
Eventually due to my situation of being a man in his late 20’s living with his parents I decided to sell ALL of my horns. I vividly remember getting into an argument with a guy at Baltimore Brass telling him this tuba would not last a week and sell it for more. He didn’t listen and it was gone within a few days.
After this horn had sold, I had found out that my parents were gambling $2-300/ a week and had lied to me about their financial situation. None of them offered to help me with my instruments despite me paying for everything including the parent plus loan, which by federal law was in their name.
Today I live far away from them with a woman who was very insistent in me getting back into music, so when I had enough funds I had finally purchased the Bruckner. I still think about this VERY horn ALOT remembering the textured finger buttons and how they felt as well as the sound. I never desired a Bruckner when I owned this horn.
This post is for all of those music Ed/ performance grads who may be in a tough place right now. Keep on trucking and surround yourself with people who support you. It will get better.

I owned the original one from Mack brass demo video. Great horn. Miss it. Really had no good reason to sell it. Valves were a bit finicky, but that was it. Great sound and playability.

I'm guessing that these disappeared...
- because Tom quit ordering them
- because other USA retailers preferred to pre-sell them, before ordering them
- because that factory is now busy cranking out a bunch of 2nd-line stuff for "that French company"

I heard that B&S some how either bought wiseman or got them to stop making the tubas, this is only a rumor and sounds semi far fetched.

semi-sure that the "Besson International" stuff is made there, and who knows what percentage (zero...ten...fifty...??) of components made there are sent to East Germany.
I would rate the Wiseman build quality to be up there with Eastman...just below JP (but JP's model selection is much more limited, so...)
I would rather play some of the Wiseman 900 tubas (that I've played - as well as one that I briefly owned) over some of the PT6-P tubas that I've played.

That would make sense if the Besson internationals, and the new B&S Chinese Nirschl-Clone, was made in this factory. They could stop the production of the Pt-6 clone while putting out other cheaper Chinese stuff.bloke wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 1:30 pmsemi-sure that the "Besson International" stuff is made there, and who knows what percentage (zero...ten...fifty...??) of components made there are sent to East Germany.

Horn is gone!
I agree with wade, I love nickel silver and brass. The 188 Anniversary model someone had on here a little while ago was the nicest looking tuba I’ve ever seen.
