Great 80's Mirafone 188 CC Tuba. This horn has the classic thick Mirafone sound and fantastic intonation. It has the 2-step 5th Valve.

It has been chem cleaned and has a Uniball linkage conversion from the old teflon joints. It has some bumps, but everything is in great shape for a 35+ year old horn. You can tell that it has been played but not abused. Comes with a soft backpack gig bag.
The tuba is available to test or pick up in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Payment accepted via Paypal or cash. Buyer is responsible for Paypal fees. Local pickup preferred, but shipping can be arranged at buyers expense. No shipping outside of the US

Last year I got a similar vintage 188. Every time I play it with a group I love how easy it is to blend and tune. It does just what I want it to do without any weirdness or surprises. It truly makes me sound better than I am. And on top of that, it has such good size and balance for comfortable play.

It's gorgeous, I like these tubas so much.
I agree with John, it's such an easy tuba to play and an easy tuba to HOLD. The top bow is low, so the center of mass for the tuba is low, and it sits very well and balanced in your lap. And since the top bow is short, you can also very easily and lazily reach over it to move the 1st valve slide... as if you really needed to. Or, even better, page turns are super easy, and that makes the trombone players sore to see you flip, while they have to lean over and deal with their slide...
I actually WANTED to have my 5th valve changed to be a LH valve, because I really didn't do anything else with my left hand, and figured it might be nice to not have to use my right thumb.
If only I had some bucks...!

Sorry, I haven't checked here in a while! Been a busy couple weeks. Thank you for the compliments. It is a very nice horn and I wish I could keep it, but funds are needed for other things these days.
Anyway, I'll add a picture of the bag to the google drive. Its nothing to write home about but its a top loading gig bag and gets the job done
