Re: Couturier Curiosity
That was a Lyon & Healy model that was made after they bought Couturier. You’re correct, there is absolutely nothing unusual about it except the model name!
If it’s tourist season, why can’t we shoot them?

Always seem to be more bumps along the road...
Especially the smaller that road is.

Re: Couturier Curiosity
I got a Couturier style baritone (made by Lyon & Healy, presumably just after they bought Couturier) and it is loud in the fashion associate with Olds/Reynolds: you can just keep pouring sound out of them.
But oddest thing (which is only so odd considering i don't play baritone so much) is that the privilege (false) tones pretty much aren't there at all.
Not too sure what to make of that... (discuss amongst yourselves)
But yeah... more interested in Eb whatever, and for the sheer novelty of the slide: a trombone. Goes without saying, name your price, and while i might not meet it in a timely fashion, i'll at least think really hard about, and keep it in the back of my mind for future hard thinking.

Re: Couturier Curiosity
Given that some (or all?) Couturier tubas don't have valve slides, I'm not sure that this Couturier trombone isn't a perpetual joke?

Re: Couturier Curiosity
Yeah, i got momentarily distracted by the other items (Buescher with the leadpipe-> 2nd valve!) while composing a missive enquiring after said trombone.
But yeah, that is the Couturier slide i been wondering about...
Many thanks @windshieldbug for pointing it out, and everyone else's patience for enduring my particular brand of ex-entricity.

Re: Couturier Curiosity
And short answer: it is not for sale. I bet if i look at website again it (and the other instruments which had serial numbers noted) will be in the collections portion if the website.

Re: Couturier Curiosity
Pretty sure everything is a perpetual joke. Just not everyone has a perspective to appreciate (or "get") it?
But definitely Couturiers are a good one. All the slides from the other isntruments get put into the trombone, which makes it extra slippery.
Anyway, even if i didn't get the one posted above, i may have a bead on another trombone.
Will report back as there is something to report?

You must have struck a nerve... I don't even see it posted on the site anymore.humBell wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 11:16 amPretty sure everything is a perpetual joke. Just not everyone has a perspective to appreciate (or "get") it?

Re: Couturier Curiosity
The make an offer button opens an email, so it isn't necessarily your most sophisticated interface. On the plus side, it is inherently more flexible... So you can offer him 10 personalized dad jokes or something equivalently valuable, but impossible to express in terms of monetary value.
Also which list the item is displayed in is a setting, the one on this trombone has merely been switched from name your price: scrap for sale section to prized collection section.
I kind of assume any instrument the seller took the time to record its' sereal number probably means it is collection rather than name you price parts.

Re: Couturier Curiosity
Worth a bump?
Keine Ahnung.
(smidgeon of high school german prickles me to suggest Nichts rather than nicht? But leave it to me to be particular about not knowing nothing)
Anyway, anything more boring out there? I am very particular, and will only accept continuous conical boredom.
