Mrs. bloke is the treasurer of a non-profit organization.

You would be surprised (or you probably wouldn't) at how some people join (or get elected to positions) just so that can get their mitts on the dough the organization has with hopes of spending it on stuff that they themselves (vs. the group) are personally interested in buying or funding.

This group is really lucky to have Mrs. bloke guarding over its dough.

Further (since she's been the treasurer) more members have been more generous with their donations.
