King 1124 - ergobrass?

I’m in the market for a marching baritone that would be suitable for use with an ergobrass bracket and stand, primarily while sitting. From the photos I can find, it looks like the bottoms of the valve casings are accessible without interference from nearby tubing. On other horns, such as the Yamaha and Packer, tubing might be in the way.

If you own a 1124, I’d be grateful if you could post a photo showing the bottom valve caps from below. Confirmation of adequate clearance in the absence of a photo would also be appreciated.

Other than that, if you own this horn - what do you think? I’ve also found the King 1127, but not sure how similar it is to the 1124. The Wessex (Jin Bao?) marching baritone looks similar (same bore) and might be worth considering.

These are the same instrument except:

1124 — small shank receiver
1127 — large shank receiver

The Jupiter marching baritones, both basic (Qualifier?) and advanced (Quantum) look very similar to the King instruments and might be available for less. These are the only two brands (4 models total) in this style I'd consider looking at.

I found a photo of the 1127 on eBay that also seems to show enough clearance.

How is Jupiter quality these days? 10 or so years ago I wasn’t impressed with new Jupiter euphoniums that I used with students as the valves were troublesome.

I’ll probably keep an eye out for a suitable King.

Agreed. Some are also in pretty rough shape for the $.

On the ergobrass side of the topic, I started with the flag harness type thing, moved to the chair post, and eventually got the floor post. It's a little awkward when you're not playing, but it allows you to use it when sitting or standing. The chair post depended a lot on the chair you sat on. Some chairs don't have a lot of extra seat to put the pin on, so I always found the floor post to be the most effective and versatile.

Additionally, an array of foil balloons could be kept which fit in year-round...

As examples, right now, those with muricun flags would be appropriate or - as a conversation-starter - rebel flags (etc.)

If Ergobrass is (??) the one with the plate with all the little holes in it, I think maybe it would be a good idea to ask them if they offer a plate with a 90° bent side off to the side, which would make it really easy to attach to piston valves.
