Found: Cerveny/Sear/Sanders CCB601 body CC tuba
Hey gang,
I would like to find an older CCB601-4 CC body that I can buy cheap, overhaul and install a new 4 rotor valve set on it. Also it might be engraved Sear or Sanders. I don't care the engraving. My fantasy is getting one that looks bad but very salvageable for $1000 or less. I'm looking for a bigger horn that is still "Old Man" very light. If the valve section is still good, I'd consider goin into the low $2K's. Prefer just the body because I think I can fix some typical intonation issues rebuilding the horn and putting in a new valve section. i.e. buying a tuba for $3000, spending $2000 to make it "better" and not factoring in all my time for a horn that I can still only sell for $3000 or less doesn't make sense for me.
Also a Cerveny CCB603-4 Body with bad valves would be considered if it was also very cheap.

Re: Cerveny/Sear/Sanders CCB601 body CC tuba
Very interesting project! I happen to love my 601 (18 inch bell, not the 20) and can't wait to see how you improve it.
Mine does have a couple intonation quirks, the low C is flat and the Bb in the staff is sharp, so I installed a tuning stick. Worth it for the sound and ease of playing for that large a horn.
I might know someone with a 603 piggy that he says is worn out (my old horn I played for 17 years). I'm not sure what he meant by that
I'll send him this thread

This body has been on ebay for quite a while. I'm not sure if it's close enough to what you are looking for, but it is certainly within your budget.
