Polish the Raw brass, spray lacquer over that part and leave the rest alone

Had considered it, but the existing lacquer is sorta flaky. That's probably the most economical idea, though...

Light sandblast??? Then relacquer??? I dont know. Otherwise leave it as it is. I love the sleeper car idea. Looks like trash, destroy the competition!

I'd probably strip it, only because I like the look of a patina brass, and it's just much easier than any of the other options that make it look more uniform.

But I'd want to fix the dents and get that bell straightened out more. Either way, that's a fun horn.

Yep, the plan is to take it to NYC TubaChristmas this year, probably as-is (because I am not lugging a tuba on the train from Connecticut), and then get it fixed up a bit and sell it after the New Year. But if I strip the lacquer, I'd like to do that while it's still temperate outside instead of dealing with that yuck in my backyard in the winter.

Exactly...I have an ongoing Frankentuba Eb project. If it turns out nice, I am seriously considering doing this.
