Wanted: 1950’s King 1250 Sousaphone mouthpiece bit.
I’m looking for a mouthpiece bit for a 1950’s King 1250. I have the neck bit, however to my understanding these are a matching pair. I took the neck bit to a repair shop, and due to the large bore size, no other brand mouthpiece bit would seat into it. I am searching for the mouthpiece bit only, and I would like to find one without having to replace the neck for a more modern design as some have suggested. Thanks in advance!

Always here to help ! I’m currently into my 2nd year as a medic, been in EMS for almost 6 years now. Never thought I’d be using a clip from Hot Shots in a signature for a tuba forum lol.York-aholic wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 8:25 pm Off topic: My wife, who was a paramedic for 16 years, thanks you for posting that clip.

I'm glad you have not replaced the mouthpipe, because the bits and the bit receiver coming out of the mouthpipe taper have not changed.
What you need to do is to gain access to a band director's huge Tupperware box of crap, and fish through it.

I’m thinking this is probably my best option. I’m gonna start by visiting the high school I graduated from and seeing if they’ve got anything put back. I’ve got a friend at a local university doing some footwork for me too, as she’s the assistant director of the marching band. It seems there’s just not a ton of tuba people out there, at least where I’m from.
