Reality check -- my tuba lives in my house FAR more than it goes anywhere. Perhaps it makes more sense to have a hard case for safer storage at home, and "a gig bag" for taking the tuba out with me. I hate hard cases because they are just so daggone gigantic... but it's hard to deny the protection against kids, accidents, and anything else. Not to mention, my new house is going to be mostly a construction site for the next 6 months or so.
My tuba is 41" tall and a 16.5" bell diameter. I *think* that's the MTS 1209V. Not sure what other brands/sizes would fit... but if something fits a Miraphone 186, it would fit my tuba as well. Unitec would be fine too.
Just putting out a feeler for what might exist out there...
