quick Conn 20K / 20J question

Post by arpthark »

TFFJ, please answer this if known:

do the 20K and 20J share the same bugle, just wrapped in a sousaphone shape vs. a tuba shape (with a different bell, obviously)?

i.e., do the 20K and 20J share the same tuning characteristics?

In my experience, the tuba version F is much flatter than the sousaphone version F.

I'm sure you're aware that the outside slide tubes on the sousaphone version are the same as the inside slide tubes on the tuba version.

Different bore size, as Bloke alluded to (too, two).
Some old Yorks, Martins, and perhaps a King rotary valved CC
