It fit, he sent it to me at no charge and it corrected the sharpness.LibraryMark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 8:51 amInteresting - how much did it run you? And - did it fit?
I had also bought the tuba from him just several weeks prior so YMMV.

As Mark pointed out, everything you need is there to make a longer slide.

Re: Miraclone 186 tuning slide too short
It's great to have a really talented person nearby, but this job is not really one that particularly requires someone with extraordinary ability. You probably would like it to play down to pitch sooner, rather than later.
A reasonably good back-of-music-store person can disassemble those two slide assemblies, do some cutting, stick things back together, and you should have whatever extra length you need on each leg to reach 440 tuning with no problem. If you wanted to fix it later a little bit more elegantly, you would need to have Miraphone sell your repair person an extra long slide bow.
Since you seem to be near Elkhart, silver plating the final result would be easy as well.
Circling back, if that really talented repair guy is close by, why don't you just get this done with those parts that you have available by that person? An instrument that is difficult to deal with is almost as annoying as a lawnmower that won't start.
