Clydesdale jezak

It's not that it's not playable, but it's just that it's ridiculous/comical...not only endless climactic moments w/depth charges, but endless MACHINE GUN climactic moments w/depth charges.

(It's been a few years since one of these arrangements have been tossed into a xmas show, I'm seeing one in a stack of music, and am reminded of "all that stuff".)

As opposed to Shostakovich’s “Festive Overture” that could be named the “Exhaustive Overture”.

I sort of like that piece, because - in my mind - it's a nearly endless parade of groups of dancers - in all sorts of sets of matching costumes and all doing their own group's special traditional dances.

Unless it's the President's Own Marine Band, I probably prefer hearing it with the original winds AND strings.

I've always liked that...(I don't view myself as any sort of prude, and our university's marching band - every week, at foobaw-pregame shows - played the Stan Kenton version of the national anthem - including AFTER a whole bunch of prudes wrote in to the paper - complaining about it...ie. THIS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy11flBx5jM ). The too-loud bass trombone (in the Bergeron/Adam) is turned WAY down in the recording mix (so as to get the right punch - yet without the obnoxious volume), and the song (yet in a special style) is offered forth in a pretty straightforward way (rather than - as with David T.) a friggin FANFARE between every HALF-phrase :eyes: .

btw...I believe (with 200 very good players) our marching band arr. of the Curnow/Kenton may have sounded better...and - as far as trumpets were concerned - we had an impressive set of "scream squad" players (who were - in reality off-tour jazz pro's who were given VERY generous scholarships - along with private dorm rooms, three daily cafeteria squares, and some walkin'-around/gas money...and those guys would rarely graduate...When picked up by another touring band, they would disappear.
