For manufacturers of new CC or BBb 5 valve rotary tubas….

For the manufacturers of new BBb or CC (or even Eb or F rotaries too) 5 valve rotary valve tubas, when will you start putting the 5th valve after the fourth valve instead of in front of the first valve….and better yet, the 5th valve after the tuning slide like piston valve makers. If York did this 90 years ago on the 6/4 CC 5 valve piston horn/ rotor horn, it can be done. Instead of tradition, how about innovation? You could have a larger 5th rotor for the low range in this method instead of a traditional 5th, then 1-4 rotary cluster…..my end of year thought…

I don’t know if it really matters all that much provided the bore is sized appropriately.

Does a pedal B on a CC tuba feel stuffy? Not really.

Having owned a couple of 5V rotary CC tubas, they never really seemed to be bothered either way. I’ve owned 4P+1R CCs also with one having the post MTS fifth.

A whole bunch of people have remarked about the low range of york-a-phones being "vague" or "hard-to-focus", and (guess what?) their 4th circuits are larger bore than the 1-2-3 circuit bores).

My F tuba's 5th valve (first in line) has the smallest bore (17mm) of all the valve loops. It works really well that way.
