U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop Location Change (Thursday venue has changed!)

Post by tubamarc8891 »

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2024 WORKSHOP (UPDATED)

Because of construction on our building, the workshop will not be held at Brucker Hall. However, it will still be held on Ft. Myer-Henderson Hall at the Spates Community Center (Thursday) and Patton Hall (Friday and Saturday). The location for Friday and Saturday evening concerts will be Schlesinger Hall in Alexandria, VA. Exhibits will be held at Spates Hall Friday and Saturday.

Patton Hall: https://maps.app.goo.gl/m8dfuWvNw3VjFurcA
Spates Hall: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zAjxSt4Tk1JjKM6t9
Schlesinger: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6pFwf468FYfPJMAb7

Please register for the workshop here: https://usarmyband.ticketleap.com/2024- ... honium.../

Please enter via the Hatfield Gate off 2nd St. You can request access to Ft Myer-Henderson Hall here: https://home.army.mil/.../all-services/access-gate-info. If you intent to attend multiple days, bring your pass to the visitor center upon arrival and request a 4-day pass.

We apologize for the last minute change and have worked tirelessly the last week to ensure that we could still offer a workshop this year. We hope to see you there! Please pass along this information to anyone you know who may be attending the Workshop who isn't on social media.

Thanks, Marc, for the FYI. I appreciate the work you all have put in finding alternate sites.
Just a couple questions:
1-Is there a place to eat lunch within short walking distance from Rosenthal and Patton? Or, will we need to drive to the bowling alley?
2-Will there be enough parking near either of those venues?

Thanks!

The register link doesn't work on my phone for some reason. Here is another link just in case other people are having issues.

Exhibits are also in a different location, Spates Hall, just a bit further down the road from the Community Center.

Hope the weather is decent. About a half mile walk between the two venues.

Oh who am I kidding... I spend most of my time in the elephant room. (except the evening concerts)

Both halls aren’t in close proximity to a restaurant. It may be a daunting walk depending on the weather. On post we have a Starbucks and Subway inside the exchange on the Ft Myer side. There’s also a Panda Express and food at the bowling alley.

There should be decent parking by Patton Hall. Rosenthal might be a little tight. We’re exploring the idea of a running a shuttle from Brucker to Rosenthal throughout the day.

We ran into the problem of using the exchange several years ago. They needed military ID, if I recall, before we could buy anything. The bowling alley is about the only game in town for civilians. Or, has that changed? We'll make it work. :wall:

VENUE CHANGE FOR THURSDAY! :tuba:

All Thursday events will now be at Spates Community Club. Friday and Saturday evening concerts will be at Schlesinger Hall in Alexandria.

Friday and Saturday will still be at the Officer's Club. We are working on finding out if the Officer's club can offer food and drinks as they have a kitchen and bar! I will keep you all updated.

If there are still $2 drinks at the O Club this could be the best conference ever!

Baltimore Brass will be there! :tuba:

Spates Hall is apparently larger than the old building. It wasn't bad for the trombone show last year. Just a bit further away from the new hall... We just need to plan our walks a bit differently!

See you all soon!

Looks like the final, updated schedule is out and it looks like a good one.

My personal favorites--Carol Jansch and David Zerkel-- are both presenting master classes and also featured soloists Friday and Saturday night.

Civilians should be able to eat at Subway and get drinks from Starbucks. When I was active there was always signage that anyone could eat at the food court. Shopping at the exchanges is a different story. May the odds ever be in your favor

I've eaten at the Subway 98% I've gone. I also ate there last year if my memory is correct too. The weather was always cold just to walk to the Subway and back 🥶.

There's one in the PX, about a 5 min walk from Spates. At least that's what Google Maps says

I had a brain fart just then, I was referring to the light rail Metro as a Subway system, not the Subway restaurant
