Re: MW BBb
It looks like an early '70's model 20.

Re: MW BBb
I’d say model 25. Distinguished from the 20 by the tall bell stack. I used to have one just like it from the same era. Looks like the poor thing needs some love (work). And I wonder what’s under the duct tape on the bottom bow?

Re: MW BBb
Has the number 80 (or 08?) written on it, and looks more like blue painters tape to me. If I had to venture a guess, a lot number from an estate sale or auction.

Re: MW BBb
Based on proportions and looks, I'd venture a guess that it's actually the smaller model 20. To my eyes, the bell and bottom bow should be a bit larger on a 25. But it's impossible to say with any certainty. Both nice tubas.

Re: MW BBb
As to the (visible) condition, it's not really all that bad. The big dent in the main tuning slide needs to be corrected, but even the wrinkle in the bell is fairly minor.

Re: MW BBb
I pulled a noisy-linkage 25 out of the bloke-attic TWO years ago...but still haven't (even though some NEW parts and nice new gold-brass JP 379BB - copy of 25 bell to put on it) gotten it sale-ready...I walk past it several times daily.
People keep asking me if I have [stuff other than a 25] for sale, and - in addition to a regular stream of long-distance (often 'feshunul) repair customers, my 25 is STILL (at least) four instruments BACK from being in queue for restoration/sale.
Ahead of it are several other things, along with (and it's so difficult to get to) my OWN "build" projects - because they "pay" NOTHING.

Re: MW BBb
The bell is much too narrow for a 25. I had one of that vintage. I'm certain it's a 20.
