I was just offered a one-hour jazz quartet lunch gig at one of Memphis' historic old country clubs (a place where - back when we had an economy - I played often) for modest pay, and with my beloved and very talented friends (two of whom are octogenarian, but who do not play "old").

It's the day before Thanksgiving, and - dang it - I'm taking the job.

My family (a 700+ mi. one-long/hard-day's drive way up into frosty-yankee-land) is willing to put off Thanksgiving until Friday.
