Pending: Getzen CB-50 Canadian Brass Tuba CC/BB flat
Howdy All! Looking to sell a Canadian Brass by Getzen CB-50 model tuba. These were only made for a couple of years, if that, both because the CB contract fell out and Getzen wanted out of the Tuba game. That said, really nice sounding horns! Got me through a somewhat storied high school and collegiate career. Right now the fifth rotary valve is off, because I played it in BB flat mostly, but with the valve attached and closed it is a CC tuba. The tuba has been sitting for years, and needs a little work. See attached receipt from Beacock music in Vancouver WA. It has been played a bunch and toured, so it has a dent and a bunch of scratches and scrapes, a few patches in the lacquer, etc.. Comes with a hard shell case that works well, but again has been gigged so it shows its age. It also comes with a Canadian brass Arnold Jacobs model mouthpiece. I am looking for $3750 OBO. If you would like the work done before shipping, it would be a bit more. Tuba is in Portland, OR. Could be shipped, but is gonna be spendy with the hard case. Interested parties email@hotmail.com. Have a bunch of pictures, please email to request. They are too big for attachments. Thanks!

Wow. I was recently quoted $170 by a well known east coast shop in a HCOL area for a five valve cleaning.
That said, I really like these horns. Good luck with sale!

Re: FS: Getzen CB-50 Canadian Brass Tuba CC/BB flat
I'm curious to know the serial number of this horn...
And it's notable that while there are 5 valves, the 5th linkage is missing here which makes this a 4-valve instrument in terms of playing. I'm looking at mine and I don't see any way to remove the linkage / thumb trigger assembly, so I assume that would have to be fabricated in order to make it play as a 5-valve instrument.
Very few of these were made in lacquer, and this one looks to be in stellar shape.

The “solder” on the invoice was for reattaching the linkage.

Also, do you know where the serial is on these? It may be a prototype, I seem to recall it was one of the very early ones. But that was thirty some years ago, and I was fifteen, so truly not a reliable witness at this point.

I jacked up my repair/service rates in reaction to post-2020 hyperinflation, but not quite that much.
