Tuba Harness Needed

Post by tclements »

Friends,

I need a harness so that I can play my tuba (Wessex York) standing. There are no hooks or rings on the tuba (like Miraofone or Alexander). I COULD use a standing stand, but I'd rather not schlep that thing around with me. Any ideas? Thanks!!

I am IN LOVE with the neotech harness

You might have to relocate some strap rings to make it perfect, but it's worth it

The regular neotech harness can wrap around the bottom bow

I used one for walking gigs before I got my sousaphone. Pretty comfortable but I was using a light tuba.

They also make a Holster harness, but I've never seen one in person

As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.

I have used the 18” holster with my Martin Mammoth 6/4. It was stable and pretty comfortable, even for a 2 hour gig.

Because there are no rings, you can use the Rudolf Schwarz system

in combination with

I am not using one of those, but very interested if somebody can share her or his experience with this system.

I have one of the 'holster' harnesses that I'd trade someone for the 'regular'. It works fine, but isn't my cup of tea.

@tclements, I have a “Blue Note” padded strap with the adjustable straps and clips from about 1994 in great shape. If you remember that setup and/or want me to snap some photos, let me know. I’d be willing to part ways with it.
