leather tuba bag color choice question
Since the general reputation of tuba players is that of extremely dapper individuals who are incredibly well-dressed, never mussed, always perfectly coiffured, weared beautifully shined top quality Italian shoes, and absolutely no dents nor scratches in any of their always European-made instruments, why don't more of them order white chrome tanned leather tuba bags?
As tuba players always drive immaculately clean cars. only perform in the most exquisite venues, and never spill even a drop of food or anything else on anything, I can't imagine any of them ever getting any sort of mark or stain on a beautiful pure white leather tuba bag.

Re: leather tuba bag color choice question
A great tuba that I bought a couple years ago came with a beautiful perfectly fitted leather bag. I sold the bag straight away so that someone else would have the honor of getting it all scraped up.

If / when I get around to measuring the Hagen for a Messina (it is not going anywhere for a while, so no rush on the bag) I decided on brown. Just like around here I think the best color for a vehicle is sand color, because it's going to end up that color anyway.

Joe, you forgot to mention that we are frivolous and fabulously wealthy.
So -- duh -- if the white leather gets dirty, throw it out and get a new one.

Something that's odd is that REALLY pretty girls seem to like tuba players (??)
Re: leather tuba bag color choice question
I have always thought that we punch above our weight class when it comes to significant others.
As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.

Re: leather tuba bag color choice question
Something else odd about playing the tuba is that really fine solo instrument players come up to us after concerts or even rehearsals and compliments on our simple little solos that we might encounter in the midst of orchestral works.

You forgot to mention that ermine upholstery on the inside.
Looks good in hard cases, too. You only need about 300 of those critters.
