Annual expected earnings $150,000 – $165,000
Will that get me a nice apartment within walking distance of the opera house?

Will the Met provide me with a suitable gown to wear to the gala?

Do I need a 6/4 CC tuba?

Can I sit on stage with the singers?

Are the singers paid more than I will be?

That alone? Probably not.

Having said that, winning a job like this usually opens up doors that would probably net about another $50-80k a year in earnings being in NYC and all.

Not gonna get rich but you won’t be struggling too bad either.

Does anyone know if the average Joe-Schmoe or student will be able attend the audition? I.E will there be a harsh resume round. I know it’s probably in their best interest to have a smaller audition, but I can think of a couple big jobs that were won by new comers recently. I’m curious if there’s any NY Union rules about this.

Id also be curious about the list/excerpts. How much it Varies from the pretty standard stuff we see from orchestras.

Not sure about the resume round. Based on the “ONLY HIGHLY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS” on the website, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are a bit strict.

I think this slot has opened up twice in my memory, and both times the rep list was a bit more focused towards operatic pieces, possibly 90% or so?

Well, shoot, and I just taped down the 4th valve on my Eb sousaphone, too.

Nah, you need a custom B natural tuba for The Ride. :tuba:
