Case glue

Say I had a hard case with the plush padding falling out. Looks like someone hot glued it in the past, which failed. Will any regular epoxy type stuff work?

I suspect that some of the glues used I have century ago have been either outlawed or are too expensive.

In years gone by, I used contact cement. It came in a tin with a brush in the cap. Again with the CRS, I can’t remember where it can from…

I have nothing against contact cement...and this isn't an argument.

Tuba cases (since two or three decades ago) have featured big thick bell flare pads (a poor design for more than one reason), and - with the bells pushing against those pads over-and-over during insertion into those cases (even if not carried out by young scholars) contact cement just isn't strong enough to prevent those pads from surrendering their bond against the ends of those cases.

Shouldn't be there in the first place, as (via contact, even though it compacts) it transfers the energy of impacts (from a case's bell end exterior) to the very structurally weak bell rim. Rather than that, a strap should be within cases (and was in some - for a while) which straps around the bottom bow, preventing the rim from coming into contact with any part of the bell end of the case.

The Marcus Bonna cases for euphonium have a bottom bow strap. I think they’re a great idea.

The captured bell rims always make me nervous. It’s a leap on faith every time the lid is closed.
