hey Blake...that Jakob Winter case I just bought...

Post by bloke »

I met up with the guy who had the Jakob Winter case for sale...
' turns out, it's a 6/4. It isn't blocked properly for FatBastard, but I managed to get him in there, and the lid closed without damaging the tuba.

If I'm lucky, maybe (??) it will fit a typical 6/4 front-action PISTON tuba. (I actually have a front-action 6/4 here - no, NOT the Conn Orchestra Grand - that was pretty close to sticking back together...BEFORE the summer insanity hit.)

The Hawaiian shirt:
I wore it to play an outdoor Memphis Symphony quintet thing a week or two ago, and have slipped it on several times since (after showering, and when I only needed to be wearing a casual/clean shirt for an hour or two). A couple of nights ago, I had it on, and an episode of "Magnum, P.I." came on...He was wearing (no...not "similar", but) THE EXACT SAME SHIRT.

Love those Winter cases.

I have Mark's old Piggy case for my Piggy right now; fits great after doing just a bit of foamectomy surgery. But it's wooden and heavy and more for storage than transport. I have a Cronkhite bag that belonged to Michael Bush (RIP) for hauling it around.

For the Alex CC, I have the original 1930s/40s case for it. :smilie8:

My Alex F is homeless; need to get something for it at some point, but since my Alex CC is in the shop, the F is subletting the CC's case for the time being.

Don't suppose you still have that Winter case I pointed out to you a while ago that arrived from Germany but didn't quite fit your Symphonie, @bloke...?

My wife has threatened a ban on Magnum watching in the house.

I struggling to act like I object so I can use Magnum as a bargaining chip to watch Rockford Files.

I personally don't much care for Magnum, but it comes on if I don't change the channel.
