FS: King Flugabone $650

Post by arpthark »

This is a late 1970s-era King Flugabone. Overall in very good shape, great valves, all slides move, a few dings but no major dents. Some evidence of prior bell repair and some missing lacquer.

Comes with black wooden case in very nice condition -- one latch release button is a little loose, but functional.

Specs: .500" bore and 8.5" bell, basically a compact wrap small-bore valve trombone.

Super cool instrument, highly sought-after for jazz and the like. Asking $650 plus shipping from CT or you can meet me around New England or the NYC Metro area for pickup. Please PM me or email beanhillbrass at gmail.

Will post some better/more detailed pics later, but here are a couple:

Ooh... I've never seen a shiny one!

These are a blast to play... a valve trombone that is actually in tune.

(^ bit of wear on the bottom of piston #1, and the #1 piston is discolored on just the back half in a perfect straight line... not sure what that is, but there are no compression issues. This thing sat in storage for 30 years so I am guessing it's stained from old valve oil.)

...a FAR BETTER bass trumpet than MOST (including really expensive European-made) bass trumpets...(if played with a standard trombone shank mouthpiece with a bass trumpet-sized cup)...

...otherwise (with anything from an 11C to a 6-1/2AL) it's a really great/compact (and good intonation) valve trombone.
