Looks like it’s high pitch. Not an issue to have some extenders made to bring it down to a440.

I can't tell definitively from the pictures but these(at least the one I had) had a little loop after the main tuning slide to go from high pitch to low pitch. Cool old feature from the deciding what would be the official pitch. If this horn has that, a polish and possibly a valve job later you would have an incredible horn.Kanstul actually copied one and the reviews were glowing. Ed

Does that mean you have extenders instead of using the loop to bring it to low pitch?

(i do vaguely remember thought that low pitch on old Yorks* is usually too low, so a440 is in that awkward gap you can't quite tune to with or without the loop.)



*sorry. Tickled by the spelling suggestion for yorks is yolks...
Always wondered about the answer to the old fake test question (test had other notable question like "who is buried in Grant's tomb, and what color was George Washington's white horse) which is correct: the yolk is white, or the yolk are white?

I really like the Kanstul 33t. One of if not my favorite tuba. But I don't mind small or "medium" bore tubas. I hope it's ancestor is just as good!
