Re: Keebay...
I would tend to believe Volkwein's Music but I don't think that thing has enough bows to be a BBb. Its got the same number and layout of bows/loops as a typical Monster Eb, but missing one for it to be in BBb (extra loop in the third circuit notwithstanding).

Some old Yorks, Martins, and perhaps a King rotary valved CC

Re: Keebay...
My take as well. It took me until the 3rd or 4th glance before i notice the subject line, as it were. Posted in the new member looking for an Eb-er keefer in the new members forum because i thought (and thing) that is what it is. Though strange the only BBb Keefer tuba photo that seems to come up on the interwebs on an omniscient google search seems to be in klaus's archive?
And where has too much depth perception, that doesn't quite feel like it has enough?
Anyway, was presented to store as a BBb so that is how it got listed...
And who knows, every once in a while it seems BBb is just supersized Eb. The specific example that comes to mind are class of full circle European piston helicons.

Re: Keebay...
That’s in E flat, not enough branches.
It was a quality instrument in its day, but $1,525 is way too high as far as I’m concerned.
If the winning bidder is expecting a BBb horn, they are going to be mightily disappointed.

I don't know why you're being so negative. We should always believe what people tell us, particularly if they aren't inrentionally telling us something which isn't correct. Further, we should be looking towards what can be - unburdened by what has been. Joy!

Words to live by!
Let’s be positive, then.
The winner can have someone paste on a four valve set, and then they can tape down the fourth valve. Seems like a valid work-around……?

Re: Keebay...
It's now over $2000, with 3 and a half days left....all for a Keefer monster 3-piston Eb.
The 4-piston silver York BBb is a much better buy, imo. But I wonder if it will go stupid high for what it is like the Keefer Eb here.
Also has over 3 and a half days left...

On Oct-17-24 at 17:13:29 PDT, seller added the following information:
After receiving several messages, we believe this horn may actually be an Eb, not a Bb. Our apologies for the confusion.

Re: Keebay...
Ah... And the tape will cover the fact that it didn't come with a 4th button! (or you can draw it on with a marker if you must)
Genius!
I guess it isn't such a surprise that one person might be willing to pay a lot. But the way ebay works, that means at least two are willing to pay that much. (and are too lazy not to set up some clever sniping service or system)
And as i might have mentioned at the start of the thread...
Buttons!
(with apologies if i'm pushing anyone's right now.)
