Been listening to this again today--great arrangements, great performance. My new favorite Christmas brass performance.

Yeah, Wade, very nice arrangement!

Hey, props to Paul Evans the tuba player exltrodinaire, I've not heard him play before but solid throughout, including good pitch without a lot of slide finagaling. What horn is he playing so well on?

Thanks for the kind words! I was playing on an early version of the Besson 983 Eb. It's been the one tuba I've ever owned that I never considered replacing.

I am glad to see that folks are enjoying this video. Wade's arrangements are all very well done. The recording session was pretty stressful. None of us had played with each other (or anyone else, really) for at least 8 months and we had one rehearsal followed by a 2-hour recording session on the same afternoon. I felt great during the rehearsal, but was really hanging on by a thread in the recording, I'm in such bad playing shape. I have no idea how the trumpets made it other than they obviously spent more time getting/staying in shape than I did!

Same here, Paul.

My orchestra's brass quintet has a separate full-time contract added to our regular full-time orchestra contract. We play all the time. (I think in 2019 we performed over 110 services.) But when we went to the hall to record our educational program for the local 5th graders it was like having a bad case of "rubberhead". We knew this would happen and we have played this program (very taxing and difficult) for many years, so we totally forgot how much raw chops it took. By the end of the recording session, we all were feeling it in a bad way. We got through it, but there were some things we really would have like to record again. COVID time restrictions and weak faces caused us to call the session when what we had was "good enough".

Sounded good, man. Tell Keith he sounds just as great as he ever did.
