That's the same as a Miraphone 186 isn't it? I would think finding a rotor and tubing for that should be fairly easy.
Yeah, but I was under the impression that it was .730" throughout all four valves. The small side of the tuning slide is .730", so I need to figure out something else.

I'm working around a roadblock I encountered. I think I have a solution.

Finally got a rotor and something that I think will work for the MTS.

Did some work. I'm going more Yorkish on the 4th and 5th valve. Old route got in the way of the main tuning slide.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I worked on the valve tubing routes and I also fabricated a dogleg/last branch. I plan to try and bend it to the desired shape in the next couple days using a wood form.

This branch isn't perfect, but Im pretty happy with it as a first attempt at fabrication.

The branch is currently filled with freezey stuff if anyone cared.

Also, don't judge sloppy soldering and misalignment. That will all be solved after it takes a trip to Elkhart and is a nice uniform raw brass.

What was the mixture for your "freezy stuff"? I hope that bend goes well for you. And let me know if you get the parts we talked about.

It might be too late for this tip to do you any good, but if you stumble across a junk Weril/Dynasty sousaphone valveset, those are the same bore size as Buescher. and there might be some curly cue parts to harvest off of one of those that is just the right bend for this or that application. Those things had four valves, and a lot of little different varying sharp bends.

(As far as the valves themselves were concerned, they were made of brass, and the nickel plating was only appearance thick, so any transplant to a decent instrument – sadly – would automatically define a complete valve rebuild.)

Am I seeing that you are doing a whole bunch of work, defeating the original slant of the valveset valve block configuration, and orienting it more like a King valveset?

@bloke the OP switched from a 12j (plus grafted fourth valve), ie slanted, to a 4v set from what I think is/was a Dynasty M875 BBb contra.

whoops...OK...There I go again, then, putting my size 25 foot in my Walmart-sized mouth. :smilie6:

Just wondering what happened to this project. Was it finished?
