After hearing the Zubin Mehta recording of LAPO playing Zarathustra, I learned that “musicality“ is probably (at least, often - and perhaps my observation does NOT pertain to marches) higher on the list than is “rhythmic precision“, as that recorded performance is as sloppy as hell, yet is amazing as hell.

That having been said, I guess they weren’t playing it in front of a set of three judges…(??)
