Neither ad presentation nor seller persona to discourage me from buying something. I’m looking at condition/price/legal-ownership, and understand the reality that - once I buy something - the seller has absolutely nothing to do with what I subsequently own.
Provenance cuts neither way with me. I don’t give a damn whether a legendary player or a hopeless slob sold me an instrument, as long as I got a really good instrument for a really good price that was legally owned by the person who sold it to me.

I’m a great fan of Miraphone - both products-wise and company-wise. With this particular set of three models – with two of them being “redos” (as well as a less-often-seen rotary version), it’s instructive to me that – even though they feature front-action piston valves (as so many tend to shop fashion over function) - they they seem to go for less than a good old (even if not particularly gleaming) model 88.

bloke “just sayin’ “ 😐

I had my 1291 for several years, and for me, that's a really long time. It was a very good tuba, and after having a 1292 leadpipe installed, it was even better (improved low register slotting). Big low register. Easy to play. Joe won't believe me, but very easy intonation.

I started to chase other tubas, not out of necessity, but out of interest, and because if I can't own 10 tubas at the same time, I'll have to own them one after the other.

Nothing wrong with my 1291. Sold it to very picky professional who posts here sometimes, and he agreed that it was a great tuba and liked it a lot. He sold it to another professional, who also really liked it.

Sometimes tubas just move around a lot because of changing players needs or because of top-level player pickiness. Not because of deficiencies in the instrument itself.

My thought about this -- and other tubas like the B&S PT-606, Conn 5xJ, Getzen G50... they can be hard to sell these days, because there are 1001 options now for lower-priced Chinese 4/4 CC tubas. Why pay $5,000 or more for used German when you can buy new Chinese for less? Or even the same...?

Anyway, with or without shoes, shirt, pants, etc... IMO it's a good tuba, and a good price.
