It sounded fine, played just as well in tune, and it got me outside of my “box” as well as thinking in a little bit different way. So did you learn a new set of fingerings or just modify the key in your head and use CC fingerings?

sort of did a “capo shift” in my brain…
…I’m not sure if I can explain what goes on in my head when I do transpositions like that.
I guess I just sort of have this background mantra that “ F is home“, “ C is home“, “E flat is home”, “ B or B flat is home“…(??)

That sounds like what horn players did before valves. Put in a different slide, and play by the position in the harmonic series.
