Aha you are reminding me of a loan I did NOT do. The local (since deceased) horn professor had bought a Lawson bell after playing my horn, and somehow, at some point in time, he apparently sat on, or dropped, or whatever, his bell, and he had a performance coming up. He called me, invited me to his retirement party that I had NOT been invited to originally, and then wanted to borrow my bell, saying he would take exquisite care of it. I figured, if he can ruin his bell, he can also ruin my bell, and didn't appreciate the kissing-up in order to borrow it. I said no, that it was not something I felt ok about lending out.2nd tenor wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 12:07 pm Of course never lend anything that you’d be really upset about loosing or it getting badly damaged (stuff happens), and have a view as to how well you think an item will be looked after too. And then there’s just the folk who for one reason or another are unreliable or just can’t be trusted … such folk are only lent things once, if at all.
