What plating was used on these old horns' pistons? It's oddly bright and matte-shiny.

What you have is a model 51 York Monster Eb Bass.
Should be a 17 1/2" bell.

Thanks for this info! I believe it actually says the bell is 19", but the layout of that bit of ad copy is weird; I've attempted to reformat it:
Length from edge of bell to base of largest bend, 33 in.
Width at valves, 17-1/2 in.
Diameter of bell, 19 in.
Weight, 18-1/2 lbs.
