Brass threads are "stretchy"...which is why Dave Houser's (stainless steel - HARD) threaded tuba mouthpiece components define that they PARTICULARLY be dialed in.

btw...Do NOT compliment me !
I ALREADY post about 50X as much as I should.

Dents Be Gone! wrote: Thu Aug 17, 2023 1:56 pm Soooo, an 8-32 is pretty close-ish to an M4, which may have been where those holes started (I don’t actually know, but am guessing). My next guess is that you partially cut and partially sort of burnished the original threads into accepting the new 8-32. Brass is also pretty plastic and malleable. And you are a rock star for making work!
If it's about my Kalison story ... I don't recall what I tried, but standard M4 would have been the obvious thing ... nope. Now, the M4 x .75 that bloke alluded to above, likely I had never heard of such a thing and it's closer to 8-32. My new bolts need an occasional tightening, but they're better than the repair shop's leadpipe bolt, which I think I eventually fixed with red loktite. Oops, there goes my rock star status.

Raw brass only, though.

If anybody needs their silver plated mouthpieces made to be raw brass, I'll take care of it as long as they give me a batch of them, but please have your local guy polish them. I've got enough polishing to do.

It might be worth an inquiry. The only other option I know is to see if someone like Dave Houser would duplicate yours. It's one of their listed services. Giddings also does duplication.
I contacted Kelly about a stainless steel 18 and got the following response:
We are not setup to manufacture custom mouthpieces.

Our nearest to your request is our 2-piece / 316-Surgical-Stainless-Steel / KELLYberg / Tuba Mouthpiece...
So, that's a dead-end unless you want to try one of their other models. Houser may still be an option, thought it would likely take a while.

I don't think titanium coating works out quite as well on non-ferrous soft metals as it does on steel.
