@bloke No worries.

No one around here would say I have an Hispanic accent, because we hear the real thing daily. Folks from elsewhere might certainly hear slight nuances and influences we ourselves don’t perceive.

The way people speak around here is unique, and the other dialects around Texas are equally unique. The different influences on language, accent, culture, food, music, etc. in this area are numerous and have been around a long, long time.

I started my tour of Chicago last year in Lancaster. There, it's not LAN-ca-ster. It's more like LAIN-cuh-ster. If I remember right.
Yup. I live north of there. Even further is the city of Bethlehem. You don't want to know how they pronounce it. When I moved to the area in the late 80's it took me a while to realize what they were saying and the city were indeed one and the same. :wall:

Versailles, KY (home of Woodford Reserve bourbon) and Versailles, CT (tiny old mill village) both pronounced Ver-Sales.

Hmm... trying to think of any more interesting regionalisms.

Berlin, CT is "BUR-lin," not "Ber-LIN."

Don't even get me started how the locals here say "Norwich." (varying from "Nar-itch" to "Nawwwch")

@BopEuph, did this information help you decide on a price for your case?

As the child of TWO pastors, whatever you heard was indeed true. We just knew where to bury the bodies. :smilie8:

I didn’t hear it, I lived it. We were even driven home in a police car once! (This was back there was less drama and the police could do this sort of thing.)
Dad actually had to come to police station. I was 7 or 8. :cheers:

So how about that Euphonium case? :popcorn:

Maybe? What it did do was remind me to snap a pic while I stop by my storage unit to pick up the Conn 12J bugle to be reassembled next week!

Being from Indy, I always knew how to pronounce Louisville. And one of our favorite jokes was that we called a crescent wrench a Kentucky Metric.
