I was able to get the MTS extension soldered together last night. I still need to add another cross brace on the ferrules connecting to the crook as well as one that would further stabilize the outer tubing of the small side of the MTS to the body. After that, it's just cleaning, polishing, and aligning and we'll wrap this up!

I realized I never posted a "before" picture. Here is the 1934 Pan American sousaphone I started with:

And here it is all shined up and ready to go! I still need to check the valve alignment, but it seems to be playing pretty well as it is already. This project is all but finished!

Here it is all dressed up and ready for action! I used it to play a few "driveway concerts" with friends last night. It did it's job! I think I need to trim the first valve circuit a bit though. Playing C in the staff with first valve seemed flat, but that seems to be common on some horns.
