Repair? No. Modification? Maybe?

Post by MiBrassFS »

This little York Eb was rescued from the recycling bin/dumpster. Someone had used it as an outdoor decoration. It was full of leaves, twigs, and dirt. As much as possible of all that was removed and the exterior was scrubbed clean. It had apparently been filled with water at one point and it froze because there are several areas that burst and split open… the final death blow. Pushing up any dents causes cracks. The valves are toast and there’s some broken braces and cracked knuckles.

So, what to do? After adding a few strategically placed zip ties and some epoxy to put 50% of the bell rim back on, it has been given a paint job and next will be strung with lights. It will continue life as an outdoor Christmas decoration this coming season. It may end up a permanent fixture on the back deck…

Drying in the sun after a scrub down.
