FS: King 2280 Euphonium (2) (SOLD)

Post by ChazzyJ »

This King 2280 (2nd of two I have for sale), thought to be manufactured between 1975-1980, is in great shape for a horn of its age. The 2280 is a great step-up horn for the younger student, or an excellent choice for the amateur or part-time player. The lacquer has no significant wear and has aged into a rich, darker brass color. There are little dings here and there in the lower bell section, and on the back of the bell close to the top there is a ding and a scratch. All the tuning slides move as you can see in the photo where I pulled them all. I left the 3rd valve slide in place because of the spring, but it does move. The valves are in fantastic shape with no plating wear. I serviced them with new felts and springs, and upgraded the valve guides to brass instead of plastic. They move great. The is a light crease in part of the rim of the bell, but you have to really look to notice it.
