Also not a Miraphone… so, why the reference? Don’t know… it’s a Sanora…

Say sayonara to the Sanora, señora!

I hear that's the mod all the cool kids are doing these days. You know, to help with airflow while skydiving.

edit: one of those holes looks like it's facing "out." Hook?

Hmmm… skydiving… I wonder if it whistles in the wind…?

Looks like the dent repair was attempted by an autobody man. Hmmm. I wonder how bondo affects tone and intonation?

Duct tape fixes lots of stuff and the best part is it can often be reused!

My rule of thumb is "maximum three", but whatever.

My guess would be flower pot and this was for water drainage. The pulled out bit could be someone used a regular twist drill and get it stuck or didn't know enough to a least keep the drill spinning when trying to back it out. Drilling in sheet can be weird.

It's missing the lyre screw, so I am going to have to pass.

Wasn’t the Sonora the Giardinelli stencil of the old VMI (B&S) 101?

All kidding aside, if the valves are good that could be fixed up into a decent player, if the price was right……

At the very least, “this tuba is sure to bring back memories of past glory”, even if it isn’t a Miraphone (as they claim).

$1000+ w/shipping...

That's like $300 pre-inauguration... :smilie8:

Unfortunately, my income has not kept up with hyperinflation. :smilie4:

Yes, indeed, Giardinelli used the Sonora name for the GDR B&S tubas. They were good instruments. I had a CC for some time. I didn’t get it until it was pretty raggedy. If I could find one in good shape for cheap I’d snag it.
