Pay attention to the TUBAS (octaves?) - roughly an 1:10 after the beginning (when the handsome humanoid alien reenters the spaceship)...

Bernard Herrmann borrows from Wagner's "dragon solo".

It's just a few short minutes before "Bobby" tells his mom that their mysterious border entered the spaceship - and she doesn't believe him.
