We only have 12,000 people in this town, and I have never heard of who this person is. The local school has a newish director, and the county school just started a band. I know the county school director and have not heard of either school clearing out their inventories of old instruments, but this seller has been selling DOZENS of instruments, all being 1960s and 1970s examples, some in very good shape and some real bowsers, for at least two years now.
I cannot vouch for either the seller or whoever is doing his repair work.
I am not the seller.
I am not the repair person.
I cannot attest to the legality of these sales or the quality of the workmanship.
Sorry, I have answered many questions about this guy for two years now, both here and on FB, and I just don't know. However, I would not buy from him as we keep having truckloads of old Katrina horns (stolen from NOLA schools) being turned over here in Mississippi. They just keep turning up. I don't trust *any* sellers of used. obviously-school-owned instruments that are within a few hundred miles of New Orleans. Over the years since Katrina, we have had too many arrested and prosecuted for theft after making lots of CL sales for me to want to risk losing both my money and the instrument when the cops swing by to pick it up.
I have lived in Yazoo City for 17 years. it is a very small town. I have no idea who this seller is. I have heard of folks on here vouching for them, saying they are "nice". Well, even axe murderers can be "nice", but I would not want to spend any time with them. Just because a deal is good and the seller is "nice" does not mean the seller is not a criminal.
Don't buy anything from sellers in my town. My wife and I, along with a single vocal professor at a local university, are the ONLY professional musicians in town. The city and county school directors are also people who would be in that very tiny loop, and none of us would be pedaling dozens of former school band instruments on CraigsList for years. Knowing the process required to legally divest a public school of state-owned instruments I would not trust this seller to save my life.
Could be legit, but why risk it? This is not a special tuba. Again, this guy has been selling DOZENS of former band instruments out of his house for years. It is not a "personal collection" as he has apparently told potential buyers. No one sane does that. I own a complete set of instruments that I used for years for teaching. I never felt the need to own 25 clarinets and two dozen flutes.
Caveat emptor…

Maybe that’s not his foot. Maybe it’s someone else’s foot.
