For Sale: Meinl-Weston 45 SLZ F Tuba SOLD

Hi all,

I am offering for sale a used Meinl-Weston 45SLZ 6/4 sized rotary valve F tuba. 5 valves, all in right hand.

This tuba was built for Deanna Swoboda when she was a member of the Dallas Brass. At the time, the Dallas Brass were sponsored by instrument brand Accent and the bell is engraved "Accent MW 45SLZ". I am the third owner. The horn plays SO WELL and has a wonderful sound. I truly thought that I was going to keep this instrument for the long haul, but the body of the horn is a bit tall for my torso and the ergonomics seem to aggravate muscles in my neck. A tuba stand alleviates these issues, but I have decided to move in the direction of a horn that doesn't require the use of a stand.

There are a few small dings here and there but nothing that affects the playability of the instrument. Lacquer plating is easily 90% intact. Carriage rings had been installed but I had them removed, hence the small amount of lacquer/plating discoloration on the back of the instrument. My repairman also installed a Dillon Adjustable Gap Receiver on this tuba and the end result was amazing! This tuba responded very well to this upgrade and I feel that the playing characteristics were improved dramatically. Receiver comes with both American and Euro inserts. Tuba comes with a like new FMB gig bag in bright red (these bags are amazing imho, and are my current favorite top-loader on the market).

Price is $7200 or best offer. Horn is located in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. I am happy to drive a bit to help facilitate a sale. Additionally, I am also happy to block out time in our concert hall at the university for a play test if interested. I will be attending the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in a few weeks and could bring the instrument with me. If shipping is needed we can discuss options.
